I believe the line "You don't always have to fuck her hard", is talking about how modern day relationships should have a equal partnership and balance between the man and the woman. To also support this theory, the line "Sometimes you have to squeeze, and sometimes you have to say please". This shows that each partner in a relationship should be flexible in how they act. and what they say to there significant other.

I agree with your argument, and also pose another possible angle for your next post.

Could even the first line be taken as a reference of how not to take thing too seriously in life. You don't always have to give your all, ALL the time. Sometimes you just have to relax and enjoy life, instead of always "fucking her hard."

If this is about showing that each partner should be flexible in their actions and mind what they say, then should it deliver instructions to both parties? Right now, I believe that the lyrics deliver instructions to a male who then acts on the instructions ... which causes a reaction from the "her" but is this a one sided list of instructions?

"You don't always have to fuck her hard" could be saying fucking hard would be nice to do, but there are other alternatives to fucking her hard. For example, "sometimes you have to squeeze" could mean that having rough sex isn't the only option. You can still squeeze. Then "sometimes you have to say please" could mean that you have to ask to fuck her hard or squeeze. Also, it could mean you might have to say please if you want to have sex with a stranger. It would be awfully rude to have sex with someone you don't know without saying please.

Do u think the writer of this song only wrote it for guys to get soemthing out of or for both audiences...males and females. Is the audience that of younger generation? Do u think this says sex has changes in societies view?

Do you think when the songwriter wrote this song, do u think he was just talking about sex or had that repect underlying message or even something else?

Needs more in-depth explanation on how 'you dont always have to fuck her hard' relates to balance in relationships outside of sex

I'd like to know how women receive these lyrics because I (as a woman and mother of daughters) find these lyrics arouse anger and disgust in me.

You wrote: "I believe the line 'You don't always have to fuck her hard', is talking about how modern day relationships should have a equal partnership and balance between the man and the woman.

Should is the operative word, but the lyrics don't communicate the equality of the relationship because in the end, though he concedes to do some nice things that she asks him to do, he 'fucks her hard' anyway.

To me, this is a song telling men (boys) how to manipulate women (girls) to get what they want. It's not about equality in relationships. Not one little bit.

Compare it to this song to Conway Twitty's Slow Hand

In response to jodiemiller:
A song about manipulation? I don't think so.

"You don't always have to fuck her hard
In fact sometimes that's not right to do
Sometimes you've got to make some love"

How is anything in the song manipulating? I mean he didn't order her the dinner just to get her to think he was sweet to fuck him. He didn't get her flowers so she would fuck him either. Manipulation is unfairly influencing a person to get get a result. The narrator tells you to do nice things for women, even if you can't figure out how to cook! And at the end, when he admits that he will indeed fuck her hard, he say that after he lets you know that he is really in love with the her. If the song were a how to for men to manipulate women, why would he bother with love? And yes he may fuck her hard, but if you want to get really down to it, the song title clearly states, you don't ALWAYS have to fuck her hard, not you NEVER should fuck her hard. A song about manipulation would be something like Date Rape by Sublime. If anything, this song gives reasons for men to take a break from the hard fucking and do a few nice things, like smooches and flowers and saying please.

Oooo! Cross analysis between "Fuck her Gently" "Slow Hand" and "Date Rape" ... oh the possibilities!
